I know! I know! It was the same person who took the P out of Chris Bacon. I'd continue in similar vein, but as my ex-wife's family really do come from Scunthorpe I'd better let it lie.
I'd say it was Don Kirshner, the man who ran the Brill Building and hired Gerry Goffin, Carole King, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil to write hit songs for him. Goffin married King, Mann married Weil. Then Goffin and Mann wrote "Who Put the Bomp (In the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)" ("... he made my baby fall in love with me"). Kirschner it was who created the optimum conditions for the bomp to be put in the the bop sh-bop
sh-bop.
Shurely the original was Barry Mann? After all, he wrote and had a hit with it. The Viscounts were a UK group who covered it and took it into the charts over 'ere only.
I'll give you that one Mike. The main point was to mention the Viscounts did it- I have a copy. I've never heard the other version though I accept there is one now, and I've been into rock and roll since it was current!
