They had hits with songs that didn't have the title in the lyrics. Think there are loads more.
Such as what? Name names, albionboy (please)
Unchained melody; The riddle by Rik Kershaw and Mediterran Homesick Blues by Dylan. You got any more?
Aha. Any more apart from the many Dylan songs of the mid-60s? (Incidentally, it's Subterranean Homesick Blues). Keep that list coming, you guys
Got another three: Alternate Title, by The Monkees; Creeque Alley ,by The Mamas and the Papas; Song For Whoever, by The Beautiful South
Bohemian Rhapsody must be the most successful song without the title in the lyrics. Shakespeare's Sister by The Smiths is another example, and a much better song, don't you think...?
Space Oddity, Bohemian Rhapsody and Annie's Song all got to number 1 in the UK. The only other No.1 I can think of where the title is not in the lyrics is the Ballad of John and Yoko by the Beatles.
Ok, 2 more Smalltown Boy - Bronski Beat Teenage Lament '74 - Alice Cooper continuing search......
Superstar by the Carpenters, Elkie Brooks, and others; The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole and others.
