I have an idea for a guitar with a circular neck and with strings all the way round. Is it plausable to use in a Folk/Punk/Electronica band called Jiminy's Cricket? Any thoughts?

NOt plausible in the least in afraid....when the strings are put under tension they will want to go in a straight line so a circular neck wouldn't be possible.....nice band name though.
Sft42 - I think you've misinterpreted Blay's idea (no one would imagine a fretboard that curved in a circle for the reasons you mention) - imagine the neck of the guitar having a O profile instead of a D profile - most guitar necks have some camber anyway. Theoretically, one could manage to place strings along the length of this neck at regularly spaced degrees round the neck and modify pickups to capture the sound from all of the strings.

Why you would want to is a bit more of a mystery - It'd be a nightmare to play! There's a reason why most stringed instruments are similar in shape, you know!
Yeah i see it now!!! WHY??? there would be no way of applying pressure to the strings unless you were thinking of playing it slide fashion??? Too bizarre for me i am afraid but if your interested type in the word "luthier" and your location into Google and see who you nearest guitar maker is and they should be able to help you.
