Indie labels are planning to join together in an online music sharing system designed to challenge the major labels' stranglehold on downloading. The partnership with Dutch-based company Merlin will look to collectively license a large number of songs from various labels around the world.

With major labels joining forces with online giants such as Napster and iTunes, Merlin is being seen as the Indie labels' chance to fight back.

Independent releases account for 80% of music releases, but only 30% of total revenue. This arrangement will strengthen Indie labels' place in cyberspace and give the public unprecedented access to legitimate downloads.

Does this arrangement represent a positive move in countering the major labels monopoly on downloads?
Or is the internet becoming saturated with downloadable music and Merlin will just blend in with the mass of music out there?

Oooooo!!!!

Can't help with your question I'm afraid (In fact I didn't even read it- lol) but are you Ed? Why've you got a pink box around it?
these are popping up all over the site - and as they are not written as a normal poster would rather like a professional might pose a question my guess is that the ed is posting question in an attempt to either do search for someone or just give the site a bit more substance and less "what are you having for dinner"based
i cant see a pink box round it :(
Pix- you can if you look at the question from the actual category rather than 'opening' it up, if that makes sense!
so, not changing the background color (sic) with html then?
and why are you hogging the top space ... huh .. huh?
no idea but Merlin is my sons name :)
i will not contribute to this corporate question.
ahh i get ya boo, lol its so long since I have been on here properly I never thought of that......cheers :D
Isn't this classed as advertising according to the AB rules?

First pinky Q I have seen and I was bored after the first paragraph. What a load of trite. Get rid.
