Song recommendations

I haven't encountered a song, album or band that I've really liked for ages. I'm after melodic yet gritty rock...a little bit of Coldplay, a little of Dream Theatre and maybe a touch of Deftones. I'd appreciate some recommendations. Thanks.

Thrills? White Stripes? Why not try breaking out from the molg of stuff that you normally listen to then and explore some new genres of music to you......you could try folk (Cara Dillon, Lucy Kaplansky)...or Dance (someone else supply these names !).....other than that try what I do....Fire up winmx and just type in an unusual word and download the first five available songs that you haven't heard and see what they bring....if you like any try some more stuff from the same artist.

Try Matchbox 20,3 Doors Down,Live,Incubus. Where do you listen to your music if you haven't heard anything good??? Maybe that is your problem

I can recommend Semisonic - All About Chemistry, Feeling Strangely Fine albums. Also Counting Crows - This Dessert Life, Hard Candy, Recovering the Satellites albums. Del Amitri - their old album Waking Hours is brill and the rest aren't bad..........

I don't listen to the radio much. You have to sit through hours of rubbish before encountering the occassional gem. It's too painful. I depend mostly on recommendations from friends and browsing in HMV where hopefully I'd stumble across some good stuff.

If you ask a member of staff in your local HMV they will show you some great albums, trust me!
