For me it's Eminem.

As a fifty-two year-old-white man, I know that rap is not aimed at me per se, and i find the negative aspects of most black rap to be depressingly self-centered and mysoginistic.

To me Eminem is a seriously skilful writer and rapper, and I find his musical backing accessible, so he does it for me, but I am certainly not an authority on the genre.

Eminen? Are you sure about this Andy? Yes, as a word-smith theres no-one better at putting together a very cleverly crafted rap, he can get away with rhyming two words together that wouldn't look like it'd work on paper - but it does. I'm not knocking Eminen as a rapper, he's way up there. I do feel that he is very self-centred (how many more times do we have to hear about how bad his childhood was?), mysoginistic, homophobic and pro-violence - all the things that you dont like about todays rap.

I hate rap music but the only one accesible to me is Eminem. I really cant stand the stuff and I believe that Dre is majoratively responsible for Eminems success. Im not one for lyrics but on one of Eminemes albums there is a "song" that explains that he doesn't believe all the crap he writes about in the other ones and they are just songs.

As for personality I just love LL cool J, is he actually a rapper.

Anything without guitars and a belting voice just doesnt win it for me, Im afraud,
