exposure for bands?
Hi, my cousin is part of a 4 piece band, they play alternative, I'd say it's a mix between coldplay and snow patrol (check out the link for a couple of their tracks). anyway, they're having trouble getting people to gigs and I don't think they're getting enough exposure of themselves. Can anyone suggest any ways to do this?
They have myspace: http://www.myspace.com/vannroad and they do alot of gigs, mainly in london, and some in guildford, but there's just not enough people going, and I don't think it's because they're awful, because they're not, I think they're really good... How can they advertise/expose themselves abitmore??
Thanks

One way is to get some inexpensive but eye-catching flyers printed to be distributed to allcomers at gigs advising the 'myspace' location, and maybe make some recorded music available if it's not too costly.
Other than that, it's simply a matter of perseverence. If they are good, word will get around, and the crods will grow. It takes patience, but the results are there - with persistence, talent, and a huge dollop of luck.

Flyposting, always good. Local paper whats on guide (usually free), get the local paper to do a piece on you, give away a few free cds at gigs (wont cost u a lot) etc etc. If they have a lot of gigs they're doing something right, maybe weherever they play could do a bit more to promote them. The only downside could be people don't go because they don't want to watch that kind of music.
Great sound.I am a 45 year old lass living in Lincolnshire, and think they are brill.Have they ever thought of doing any gigs at any schools. My kids had So Sold Crew visit their school before they became well known.Ok they are not arouind now,but the boys need to get out there to all age groups.
