vietnam song ???????

we are currently studying vietnam in my history lesson. we were asked to create our own song about vietnam. be it funny or serious. we are at present playing with the idea of changing the song gay bar to napalm ( think about it ). if you have any ideas of songs we could use or just ideas. i would be grateful.

A country that�s had a civilisation for millennia (with all the associated history and culture) and you choose to highlight the rib-tickling hilarity of a particular weapon that happened to be used to wipe some Vietnamese out of existence.

Well obviously the song "Orange Crush" by REM is about Napalm, and I think there is a heavy rock band (maybe Goth) Napalm Death.

I am thinking the song "Space Oddity" by David Bowie.

REM Song "Orange Crush" was about Agent Orange basically herbicide or crop killer sprayed over large areas very quickly and exposing people to potentially deadly poisons which would cause cell mutations etc..
The song was not a reference to Napalm, even though Napalm was indeed used in Vietnam. :)

...agree with idlewild - how about you get a reality check? Do you think that in the future when history teachers ask their pupils to write songs about America, that songs poking a bit of fun at 9/11will be the norm? How's about you both sing Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris - can see how that would be quite relevant for you two.

idlewild wat da hell r u on about. its not like were laughing at the deaths of thousands of people. we were asked to do a song about vietnam for our history. we were told that a funny one is easier. dont make me out to be the bad guy. i understand that it was a terrible war but its just a bit of fun

idlewire, I appreciate your concern about this question and we have studied Vietnam and its events and we do realise what a sensitive issue it is. The purpose of our song is solely to entertain, not to laugh about the terrible events that did occur in Vietnam. I hope you can understand this... we don't mean any offence by it.
