Sounds of the Sixties

This is a complete shot in the dark but two or three weeks ago on the Brian Matthews "sounds of the Sixties " on radio 2, he was talking about this old friend of his who liveso the Isle of Man and at the time was not very well, he then played a record by this man who had a beautiful voice. Unfortunately I didn't catch his name - can anyone help !!!! as I would love to buy his C.D if possible. I have an idea his first name was Fred, but not certain.
