The only song of that name to be a hit in the UK entered the charts on 2 November 1956 and was by The Platters.

As far as I know,it was the Ink Spots,but I think it pre-dated UK charts,about 1950

In the 70's there was a guy called Gerry something who also had a hit with My Prayer, he was quite an oldish guy, not hip or poppy at all!

P.S. I know he wasn't the first who sang it, therefore not 'original' - BUT if youheard it, it WAS original for the 70's......
