Lead Singers

I have amost completed a quiz on lead singers. 2 missing answers are for the singers John Connor and someone called E. Suggestions please. Plus for the name Les Gray I entered Mud and the answersheet says 'almost'. Any ideas?

No, Mud is simply Mud.

Les Gray did tour in the years before he died with a band called (probably for leagal reasons) 'Les Gray's Mud' so maybe that's the answer they want?

Les Gray was definitely the singer with Mud (with one 'd') so I don't know why the answer sheet is being fussy. E is lead singer with Eels (no 'The', just in case it's fussy about that too). The only band I can think of with a vocalist called John Connor is an American rap-rock band called Dog Eat Dog.
