I think you might mean Antony & the Johnsons, I remember seeing him sing with him on the JR show

Yes it was.

The song was "You are My Sister" from the Mercury prize winning LP "I am a Bird Now"

Out of three of four albums, this is the only one worth getting. Beware though, his voice gets very tedious.
