Do you like Kate Nash?
9 Answers
Has Britain gone mad? I ask because a lot of people I have asked regarding Kate Nash`s song Foundations, say they like it, but isn`t it clear that she simply cannot sing. Also, and I`m not disrespecting the cockney / essex accent, but it is not an accent which allows her to sing the song she does.
A few singers keep their accents in their singing, ie Catatonia (welsh), the proclaimers (scottish) etc, but she grates through me. Anyone else agree?

I don't like to hear British bands singing in cod-American accents (Alabama 3 and The Broken Family Band are excused, because it's all part of the joke for them, but Toploader need shooting), and like to hear natural accents. If she's putting it on, that's not so good - although God knows Damon Albarn has been getting away with his Mockney schtick for years.
Can't dislike a song with the lyrics "now you've got sick on my trainers" though ;-), and would happily have seen it go to number 1 if only to get rid of that boring Rihanna drivel a bit quicker.

I really wanted to hate Kate Nash and god knows that the caroline is a victim is the most grating song i've ever heard (mind you i'm being nice refering to it as a song at all).
However I saw her live in thefilm tent at Latitude festival and she was quite entertaining. Silly songs, simple music and just enough charm to carry it all off.
Frankly her 15 minutes of fame is much nicer than most others.
