progressive house?

why oh why is it called progressive? where is it going?

On a fast track to the skip button, in my house!

It's when it starts off sort of quieter and slower and progressively gets louder, faster and with a lot more going on it, if that makes sense. A crescendo of sorts. Apparently its not what it originally meant but one of my "DJ" lol friends assures me its alabout the build up, the climax and breakdown (he favours progressive trance).
