I have a ipod 30GB I have speakers that are ok but if i was to have a party they would'nt be loud enough i was wondering if theres away you can plug your ipod into your hi fi I have 300 songs on it at the moment and stil adding from 60s to present day but have to admit mostly 70s it would be great not to have to worrie about my CDs getting broke or cratched just plug in th ipod and enjoy the night thanks

(You might get some more answers now!! I believe you can get a cable to plug your iPod into speakers only, but not into the hi-fi. I could be wrong....)

At the moment I connect my iPod to my DVD player and listen to it through the Home cinema surround sound system and it sounds pretty cool. So if you have a home cinema system you can use that for a party.

As for playing it through the hi-fi, that would depend on what system you have and how up-to-date it is.

You can indeed by cables. Any electrical store (probably) will sell them - basic auxiliary wires. Failing that you can get FM transmitters, and iPod have a dedicated range that takes power from the iPod rather than relies on batteries (Griffin, I think). They enable you to tune your radio into your iPod, so you basically get your own radio station.

iPods are an inferior music player. It's a personal pet peeve of mine that they have become so inexplicably popular, so I feel obliged to mention it. I apologise for ranting.

The type of cable you require is a basic -
3.5 Stereo Jack Plug to 2 x Phono Cable Lead.

The 3.5 jack would go into your iPod and the White & Red phono plugs would go into your Hi Fi or amp.
You then select Aux or Phono as your Hi Fi source.

The above works for me.
You can get the cable from a shop like Maplin.

Don't play your music to loud.
Remember your neighbours.

Atm I plug my Mp3 player into my Hi fi and my car using the same thing. It's the headphone jack with the cassette like jack on the other end. That is of course assuming you have a cassette playing Hi-fi
