It's already been answered. It was Pilot - a Scottish band.

PILOT were the second string group to the Bay City Rollers. Their manager Tam Paton always had lads in another group being groomed to replace the big stars. David Paton (Tams son) had been an early Roller before joining PILOT. Fellow PILOT member Billy Lyall was a late 70s early 80s member of BCR.
