I grew up with these recordings: The Golden Record Library (USA) A Musical Heritage for Young America. It was a 12 volume set. You recall volume 8, America On The Move (Railroad Songs). These were issued in the late 1950's. Today, you can buy volume 8 from Amazon.com (US) for $2.00:

19 years? I've been seeking this over 25 as my mom lives abroad and has had a few Golden Records, including this, with her since 1950s.
