I'm not sure if it's the on eyou need, but it may be Pink Floyd, if it's a slow song with a male vocal.

The song is called Comfortably Numb. Originally by Pink Floyd, recently (badly, imho) covered by the Scissor Sisters.

Couldn't resist sticking my oar in, but Comfortably Numb lyric: "Is there anybody out there". Agree with you on the Scissor Sisters cover!!

The opening line to Comfortably Numb is "Hello, is there anybody IN there", but on the Pink Floyd album, "The Wall", there IS a track called "Is there anybody out there". It's track 1, side 3 on the vinyl version. I might be being a bit picky over this but i'm right.
