Abbey Road released 1969, Let It Be 1970. Hope your mate enjoys his pint and roasted peanuts.
Ah! but wasn't Let it be actually recorded before Abbey Road then shelved for a while whilst they sorted out the production? (I could be wrong here!) So Abbey road in one sense was the last Beatles album? (you might have to split the nuts!)
Let it be was actually shelved for about 18 months due to disagreements. Phil Spector came in and rescued the project from obscurity. In the meantime The Beatles recorded and released Abbey Road. It is really down to how the question is worded. The last to be released or the last to be recorded. Saying that, they released a live album from the Hollywood Bowl in the mid 70s.
According to Ian McDonald's excellent book "Revolution in the Head" (the one book every Beatles fan should have)"Let it Be" was recorded before "Abbey Road" but released after it-with the exception of the song "I Me Mine" which was the last track the group ever did (although Lennon wasn't present for it).
They rereleased let it be about 6 months ago
The version of "LET IT BE" released a few months ago is different to the original as it has been remixed to how Paul McCartney thought the songs should sound. I have not bought that yet, so I can not say too much about it.
