The guitar lecturer from Guitar Tech came to our college last week to talk about being a professional guitarist etc and he said that in 30 odd years of being a session guitarist and performer, he had NEVER come across tab or been expected to play tab. He said you need to be able to read music and chord symbols. I would agree with him.
Sorry to not be much help, but this may be more useful to you in the long run!
My husband is a professional musician and also teaches guitar for BTEC and Rock School and has taught several of the Guitar Tech Teachers - he uses tab to help the kids play covers but like you finds the available ones always wrong, he actually listens to the songs and writes the tab out for the kids. Do you know a pro muso who could do this for you?
It depends on the music I guess (Mr Hellyon plays rock, blues and jazz) but he's NEVER been given tab or chords or written music as he plays by ear so it's more 'you hum it I'll play it' !!
yeah i know what u mean hellyon can do it with some things but not the solos. my brother is a pro but hes not very reliable n i find it hard to have lessons as i used to cos i got 2 young kids. can ur husband sugest any good books out there? any help will b great as i love playing my guitar but hit dead end.x
A friend of mine has searched the web for a good tab site but has had no luck...One site he swears by is licklibrary.com, where you can register for free video lessons and buy comprehensive instructional, note for note DVD lessons...Hope this helps...if you find a good tab site it would be great if you let us know!
