There's harmonic and melodic minor, pentatonic, whole tone and blues.

Then are the modal scales used in jazz (and elsewhere): lydian, ionian, mixolydian, dorian, aeolian, phrygian and locrian.

There are others. Google modal and/or scales and you'll find loads.

Hi, Major and Minor refer to the scales. The minor scales can be harmonic or melodic, different names for Jazz scales. The distance between two notes is referred to as semitone and tone. i.e from C to C# is a semitone and from C to D is a tone. I think the Americans refer to them as half step and full step, but I prefer semitone and tone. Hope this helps, good luck. JB.
