................Wind Beneath My Wings? Was it Bette Middler? My mate says George Benson sang it before anyone else. Is that true? Or did someone else do it first?

What about LEE GREENWOOD, he wrote it.

Although Lee Greenwood's 1984 version was played to death on the radio at the time, it was actually Roger Whittaker was the first to record and release the song, in 1983. Nor did Greenwood write it - the writers being Jeff Silbar and Larry Henley.
