For reasons I can't be bothered to go into, I'm looking for a really good song from 1978 for someone who likes indie/alternative music.

What's the best song from this year? It doesn't have to be a huge hit.

I was born at the end of that year QL, and Blondie was in the charts that week. not sure which song it was though! : (
I'm led to believe (Talking Heads), ever fallen in love (*********), who are you (The Who), hanging on the telephone (Blondie) and sultans of swing (Dire Straits) were all 1978. (Well that's what it said on the mix tape my dad made me when I was a kid). Anyway, I like them and they're all quite alternative. I think I like Ever fallen in love best.
I agree with china, Ever fallen in love by the Buzzc0cks is one of my all time favourite songs.
Also that year was Rat Trap The Boomtown Rats. And Jilted John by Jilted John.
"Teenage Kicks" - The Undertones - John Peel's favourite song.
Tommy Gun by the Clash
David Watts by the Jam
Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick!
Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush
