The Jickets

Can anyone tell me more about the 80s NYC new wave band The Jickets? I know they had an EP released in April 1994 from Hello CD of the Month Club. Are they for real or some strange joke?, What are the members up to now? Any live recordings? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

The Jickets weren't really a "New Wave" band and they were for real, but they were a parody of the Rock Star and pop music industry. The concept was was to give Chet Grant a history like he was already a star. They created a great documentary called "Chet Grant, Portrait of the Man" which told of Chet's fictitious illustrious past. It is hilarious, very tongue and cheek. They also created fake fan magazines by zeroxing tiger beat like magazines and pasting their own heads in (this was before Photoshop.) They were called "Jicket Teen Magazines." Kip Delbert (Sid Gilbert) was keyboards, singer and he wrote most of the songs and was pretty much the leader of the band. Chet Grant (Bret Robinson) was Sid's best friend and a kind of shy guy who Sid talked into playing this alter ego rock star. Peety, (Scott Phelps) was the drummer also sang and Larry Lame (I never knew his real name) was on guitar and he had a very interesting style and hair. They made a film of him called "Good Lovin' Guitar Man." Other films the group made were "The Bloody Stump" and "Hetrosexual Love" both used claymation done by genius animator Michael Wolf who has gone on to a great career as an animator working on projects like "Robot Chicken." I am not sure what the other boys are doing now. I know all this stuff because I was the president of the Jickets Fan club for a time.
