The phrase was made popular by a late 70s advert where Leonard Rossiter asks Lorraine Chase, "Were you truly wafted here from paradise ?". She replied with a cockney accent, "Nah, mate. Luto Airport." Some bright spark got a trio of girls together to record a cheesey track about a girl going on holiday.

there was a song about luton airport it was either The nolan sisters !!! or Lorraine Chase herself who did it.
