Please Stay
Please Stay by the Crying Shames was played on Radio2 yesterday on Sounds Of The Sixties. I remember that I had another version, but I can't remember who it was by. I've trawled through my LP collection but can't find it. It may have been anywhere from the late 50's through to the mid 70's, and I'm fairly certain it was a group. Anyone any ideas who it might have been???
Thanks

is of a Tornados album which includes a version. However, the review implies that it was originally a Drifters song. They did have a song of that name, a number 14 hit in 1961.
'Please Stay' (a one-hit wonder) for 'The Cryin Shames' was a minor hit hovering at best around the No 30 mark in April 1966. They were a male vocal/instrumental group, originally called 'The Bumblies'. They recorded this song for Joe Meek (of 'Telstar' fame). The group consisted of five musicians with John Tague on vocals. The group were very short-lived and never quite managed to take off. Hope this helps with your question,
