guitar plectrum/picks

doe's anyone know if there is a plectrum/pick on the market which I would find easier than the basic plastic type which I really struggle to use. I am not a lazy player it's just that i genuinely find it hard to use a plectrum. Especially the up strokes. I feel i am not getting the full benefit of my guitar by being unable to use a plectrum. Also I have a Takamine Jasmine guitar which I have had for about 10 years, buying it from new. I am thinking of having lighter guage strings on it and having the action lowered.
Any tips would be much appreciated.

Have you tried playing without a plectrum using your fingers? Have you tried plastic finger and thumbpicks, they take a little getting used to but may help.

There is also the Jellifish which is a sort of pleactrum and can produce different effects like chorus etc.

I have been playing for over 20 years and remember spending nearly a year trying all sorts of different plecs, from thing and thick plastic to metal, stone, bone and glass. I eventually settled on a short stubby plastic type which I have stuck to for years. I do occasionally try new types as they tend to be pretty cheap, but i think i have got used to the stubby.

The point of this is to say, try loads until you find one you feel happy with.
