Ah, the wonderful world of the apocryphal story!
Stuart Maconie - who started the 'Bob Holness / Baker Street' myth still gets people telling him about it!
One of the most famous stories about a band is actually believed to be true -
Van Halen were famous for requesting a bowl of M&M's in their dressing room, with all the brown ones taken out.
It sounds like the very worst of rock star excess and stupidity, but their manager claims it was simply an instant method of seeing if their detailed contract of the night's concert had been read thoroughly.
If the M&M's had brown ones in, then he knew that the contract had not been studied, and something more serious might have been left not done as well.
That's the story - no idea if it is actually true, or if it's just someone else having a laugh.

Pretty fast - since the chances are you have heard it -
the notion that every adult swallows at least six spiders ion their sleep during their lifetime?
It's a total lie! Spiders wouldn't go near a human mouth, they are far too fastidious for that, but it can be relied on to inspire a few shudders in most people.
Here's a beautiful tongue-in-cheek piece about the whole thing. Even the most gullible can't be taken in by the 'spideyward 5100' - especially the 'home-made version'!
