Subjective I know, someone's bound to put the beatles but nice to see people's opinions. Mine: The Streets, Beastie boys, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Doors, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, Pink Floyd, Keane, Green Day, Queens of the Stone Age, The Libertines and The Darkness

i really disagree with those answers! haha. Most of them are actually underrated! Bands if u wanna call them that, like Busted, McFly and Westlife those are the ones which are so overrated!

see i don't think Busted, McFly and Westlife are overrated. They are just bad acts, and the only people that like them are teeny boppers who are exposed to little else. The fact they get so much media coverage is that there is a market for them.

All "modern" guitar bands: I think Oasis - who are abysmal - really started this turgid rock revival - can't believe it's lasted 10 years e.g.I saw Enbrace on some children's telly prog. at the weekend - unoriginal, uninteresting - no songs, no tunes, no charisma, no style - awful

Think you are getting confused between overrated and just plain crap. oasis are overrated now. they were good in their first 2 years. Embrace are ok. There is no way they are overrated though. It's not like they are on the front cover of every magazine in the land is it? Like the streets - who in my opinion should be doing kids parties.

I'd certainly agree with you about the Darkness, I think they're appaulling and embarassing. It's all been seen and done before. I guess it's all down to personal taste as I think the Streets are fresh and original. I adored Oasis, but now find mimic acts boring. Busted are good at what they do, they don't claim to be the next Oasis, Beatles, or anything else. They play to teens and can't proclaim to be anything, thus I don't think they are overrated. if they appeared in Q or NME as the next Rolling Stones I'd be worried.

I DONT THINK MANY BANDS COULD STAY IN THE ALBUM CHARTS FOR 2AND A HALF YEARS LIKE PINK FLOYD.AS FOR THE BEATLES THEY ARE UP AT THE TOP,THEY ARE THE MOST PLAYED BAND ON RADIO IN THE STATES.EQUAL TO 47 YEARS NONE STOP RADIO PLAYS.THE STONES STILL GOING STRONG,ALL THEIR CONCERTS OUT SELL AND MAKE MORE MONEY THAN ANY OTHER BAND IN HISTORY.MAYBE THERES JUST A LITTLE BIT OF JEALOUSY FROM TODAYS TEENS THAT THE SIXTIES PRODUCED THE BEST BANDS IN HISTORY AND CONTINUE TO OUTSELL ANYTHING THEY CAN PRODUCE TODAY.

I adore The Beatles, The Kinks, and especially the Stones but just can't see what the fuss about Pink Floyd is. The fact that they stayed in the album charts for 100 years was my point precisely.

I agree with the beach boys. they are/were good but Pet sounds is commonly acknowledged as one of the best albums ever recorded. just doesnt do it for me.

HNah, I think Oasis were always p*** poor - all Mancunian groups have been pretty sh** (I'm sure they're exceptions but I can't think of any - don't ******* me, I live there!).

Dido Black Eyed Peas The Hives Anything else from Scandinavia beginning with 'The' U2 in the last year or so, but not before then, before you all start lynching me! still getting mixed up between crap and overrated though. bob the buolder was crap but not overrated coz he wasnt on the cover of NME as the saviour of british music. However stuff like the Libertines/ Darkness is overrated in my opinion because its all been done before. Is music on that much of a low ebb that we have to resort to this?

Green Day? Overrated? No way. The Streets are original and I like them, but I can see why people do not. The most overrated bands currently in circulation are: - Keane Travis Snow Patrol Jet (big rip-offs ahoy!) Cold Play .....which is efectively Virgin Radio's day-to-day playlist. I actually went and bought the Snow Patrol & Franz albums based on the single releases, only to be disappointed by the lack of album substance in both cases. I'm going back to thieving it off the internet first. Least that way I can find out whether or not it's a load of rubbish before it costs me anything.
