what dose a music producer do

The term 'producer' covers a multitude of tasks, but the general idea is - a producer will choose a suitable recording studio, hire any session musicans required, oversee the recording and mixing of the record, and generally supervise the running of the studio. Most producers are paid a flat fee for their services, but eh really well-known ones can command a fee and a percentage of sales as well.
