It was the very wonderful 5-6-7-8's.

I interviewed their drummer (via an interpereter) for 'Drummer' magazine, and she name-checked The Sweet's Mick Tucker as her main influence - how cool is that!

The play sixties garage pop with bee-hive hairdo's and cocktail dresses, but in Japan they are regarded as a punk group.

The story goes that Quenten Tarantino was in New York shooting the 'Kill Bill' movies, and heard one of their songs in a shop. he asked to buy the CD, but the girl in the shop wouldn;t sell, and sent him to Tower Records. They didn;t know who the band were - he came back, got the name, tracked them down, and put them in his film.

They usually work in Japan, and occasionally Australia, but toured here on the back of their hit single 'Woo Hoo'. I saw them at The Roadhouse in Manchester, they were wonderful!
