What is the big deal about U2?

Am i missing something ?U2's new song is pathetic ,when i first heard it i really did think that there are hundreds of unsigned bands that could do better.Can anybody else think of more bands that put out second rate material and get rave reviews ?

I said exatcly same to my bloke other night when watching them sing there new song boots. I could shout a song about different items of clothing. Bit like madonns her solo music is crap but sing with someone big i/e justin timberlake its gets somewhere

U2 have released some brilliant stuff over the years, but I agree, they have become rather "stale". They have got to the stage where they feel all they have to do is release any old cack they like and it will sell. Sorry, but rubbish like this gets the thumbs down from me too.
