Hi can any one help me on this very old song about being a nanny the words start -
other peoples babies that's my life,
mother to dozens but no-body's wife,
then goes on to describe well to do people she was nanny too ,I think it may be a Noel Coward song & sung by Gertrude Lawrence but I can't find any info on the Webb.

I think it was Sir Alan Herbert, a writer of the early 20th century of plays and poems.
Hope this helps.

Hi Ivan - I've looked up Sir Alan but can't find any reference to the song I have in my head it is very much in the style of Noel Coward's stately homes of England song & a song called the Physician( by Noel)which Gertrude Lawrence recorded,
it was played on Housewife's' choice a lot when I was little in the 1940s. thanks anyway

It was written by Ellis, Herbert and Jeans - and certainly appears on a CD by Vivian Ellis called Spread A Little Happiness, but has probably been recorded by others.
