80's Soul group / suggestions please

Hi. I'm trying to remember the the name of an English 80's soul band, who had hits around 1983. The name (I am sure) is a one word name, like Heatwave. I have this tune they made going through my head, but I can't remember any of the lyrics. It is not Imagination, Or Lynx, or Galaxy, or Shalamar. They were not as well known. Suggestions for one word 80's soul bands please.......

No Jules. I think they are all American. This was around the time of Kool and the Gang's 'Ladies night'. I used to have this old tape which was like a preview of up coming hits, and others on the tape were, Mtune 'Juicey Fruit'. So that sort of era.

Nope, none of those. It was quite a slow, song. Very soulful. Black group. Not that famous.

Barney. I think I am thinking of the wrong song. Ignore that. This is definately circa 1983.

Yes, I'm sure it charted. It was a tape I had that on side one, was a compilation of previews for soul songs that were about to hit the charts. On side two it had a DJ interviewing the singer of this band, whilst playing the song in the background.

Nope. Yes they were all male. I'm on Youtube at the mo, searching all 1983 soul songs. Real blast from the past!
