Can somebody tell me who did the original version of the song 'Elouise' which was covered by The Damned. Chairs Ken Woodchef

Barry Ryan 1968 - (Eloise).

With his twin brother who's name I cannot for the life of me remember (Paul, Micheal or something)

His brother was Paul - he wrote the song but didn't sing on the record.

Sorry Kags it was just Barry, brother was Paul who unfortunately died on 29/11/92

I remember seeing a clip of film which one of them being in a car accident (many years ago).  I think it was a racing car.

 

As mentioned, brother Paul wrote the song and Barry had the hit.  Their mother Marion Ryan (Marion Sapherson) had a hit in 1958 (Love Me Forever).  Marion died on 15th Jan'99.  Paul and Barry had a string of 8 small hits between 1965-7.

 

Eloise is one of my favourite records and my youngest daughter has that name.
