What do u think of the reports that some churches are now vetting what music can be played and what speeches can be made at their services.....I mean I would like to have Hey Jude  as my final farewell tune and perhaps some friends recite some appropriate (to my life) words in speeches.......your thoughts......

I think that some clergy feel that some music / speeches are in appropriate for the service they are conducting. They think, with some justification, that saying "Harry was a miserable old t"%t, I'm glad he's gone, toodle pip you rotten old s*d!" followed by the playing of 'Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life' is not suitable for the confines of a church, and what is still essentially a religious ceremony. Why not write your fiuneral wishes down, and make sure your nearest and dearest are aware, and check the policy with your local priest / vicar, although I can't see any problem with the tune or probaby content as you've outlined them.
I would really like " I vow to thee my country" as a send off tune but that might be "politically incorrect" for all I know. I would also like the Great Escape to be played, but i read that in one church all songs heavily connected with one nationality or with strong references about one country being more supior than others cannot be played, as they can be seen as offensive. I think it's ridiculous! However i can see andy's point. A load and lairy chorus of "Touch my Bum" or such like is probably unexceptable!
i want "living in a box" and "going underground" at mine
It is a good thing, as it will be easy to arrange for these things, otherwise it would have been a difficult thing to set these things.
