Black music bands

I was thinking about this the other day.Does anyone else think that its a shame that there are no bands in the black music world about today? I.E Soul and R + B music? No one has taken the musical baton from Earth,Wind and Fire, Kool and the Gang,Tower of power etc..It seems that every body wants to be a rapper but not in a band.Don't get me wrong I like some Hip-Hop but not at the expense of singers/musicians.. Thoughts please....

I agree with you and unlike most artists today, the bands you mentioned actually looked happy and seemed to be enjoying themselves. There's some right surly gits about these days.

Best ever Black soul group, and still going AFAIK: Maze (Featuring Frankie Beverly)

Oh yeah I love Chic and Maze with Frankie Beverly.Actually I have just realised that there are two exceptions about today.They are Incognito and the Rebirth.Both superb..Oh and Joey Negro's Sunburst Band.I just wish the youngsters would feel inspired to form a good soul/funk group..
