I have a P4 2.8Ghz with 1Gb ram. The fan i have at the moment has an adjustable speed setting, and is on its lowest at the moment. Obviously id have to turn up the speed of the fan, but how would i boost the cpu to 3ghz?

Download an app called Speedfan.  It will control not only the fan speed but the FSB to RAM and processor.  This allows you to increase your clock speeds while monitoring temperature/voltages  It is freeware
