Can I rent games from a store and load them on to my Ps2 hard drive instead of wasting 50 bucks????

ps2 game discs are about 5Gb (4.7) and the hdd being 40Gb (i think) you could get maybe 8 games. and i don't think there is anyway of getting the ps2 to copy stuff to the hard disc. in fact this is a pretty stupid question never mind the whole thing being illegal, maybe you could screw open the hard drive and replace one of the platters with a game disc and hope for the best . and i am sure sony would want to loose millions to people like you who won't buy games at full price, i know they are expensive but you'll have to live with it.

You can't. There are ways to copy and play the discs, but they are illegal. I'd advise renting the games to see if you like them and searching around the net/eBay for a cheap disc if it's worth buying.
You can but as jimmyjojojr pointed out you can only get a few, it would be better to get it chipped, it is illegal however.
