As The Bible was "compiled" over the few hundred years after the life of Christ, and adapted many times to suit the changing needs of the prevalent societies, and to incorporate a number of "events" which had already been attributed to other "deities" in other faiths (so as not to be "outsone" by those other faiths)(eg. virgin birth, descent from divine creator, resurrection after death), we are safe in saying that both Testaments are allegorical, rather than literal.
