Whats the song with the lyrics starting:

"something's happening heeeeeere" then part of a chorus (I think) is

"stop now, whats that sound, everybody knows whats going down...." but its not a spice girls sort of song, its a 70's or 80's (I think) and Im sure everyone has heard it! It has two notes playing a low one being held for a few seconds followed by a high "ting" sort of note - dont laugh Im not a musician!! its driving me mad!

"For What it's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield.

This band featured among others, Stephen Stills and Neil Young.

I believe the song was inspired by the Kent State University shootings, though I could be wrong.

Thanks, I will check it out!

Ignore that last bit - The Kent State University shootings* occurred in 1970, "For what it's Worth" was written in 1966 and released in 1967. I was probably thinking of Neil Young's "Ohio".

* - May 4th, 1970 - Kent State, Ohio. The National Guard shoot dead four (unarmed) students, and injure 9 others during a peaceful demo at the University. This provoked widespread uproar and criticism of Nixon's government, and increased questioning of the wisdom of the war in Vietnam.

It also sparked nationwide student strikes and demos, with a popular student chant being "You can't kill us all !"

Public Enemy - 'He got game' I think x
lou rawls and sergio mendez also did versions of that track and I like 'em both. what a top track that is...
It sounds to me like Chumbawumba - the one that goes 'ticky ticky ticky time bomb' and the chorus goes how you describe!

Yeah, it's definitely 'For What It's Worth' by Buffalo Springfield. I had the same query a couple of years ago!

There's also a version from '93 by Oui 3, which you might remember the additional rap from: Hold your fire, put down your weapon, you'll never get to heaven with that AK-47!
