i have had my ipod for a while now and I'm still struggling with it.
There are four of us who use itunes and it's very confusing as to who has what and when to sync and not to sync!

I was hoping someone had devised an easy to understand manual, or website that might help.
I can't be the only one who finds it difficult surely?

1. You should each create your own named playlist in iTunes
2. When completed, sync your iPod. Click your ipod in the left iTunes menu under devices. In the sync menu bar click music, click Selected Playlists, click the playlist or playlists you have created for your ipod
3. click apply at the bottom right.
4. Do this for each of the ipods
5. Manage your ipod music by using the playlist(s) you have chosen for your ipod
6. All further syncs will automatically use your chosen playlists, and not interfere with the other ipods

but when we sync, it just puts all the music on. So my 9 year old has black label society and pantera on, from my 16 year old!
I will try and follow what you've said, but it is very confusing!
It's pulling everything on because you have not done 1 and 2.
To create a playlist go to File in the top menu and click create new playlist. Name it with your name. Click Music in the library section on the left column, then drag the tunes/albums you want to your playlist. When you have completed this go back to my last answer and continue from 2.
Do this for each of you, with your own name for the playlist.
