notafish......LOL.....LOL......the late 50´s 60´s were not happy times, so there were not a lot of happy things to sing about.

He was a crooner who sang about "love" and women would have been put off, if you had said "I love you" and then burst out laughing............although I had to stifle a snigger once or twice.
Yes, those old songs do seem very cheesy and laughable. I liked that Radiohead song someone suggested, I'd never heard it before.
The song that made me cry was called Unbreak my Heart (I think), but that is cheesy too, come to think of it.

Those "dying" songs are awful! There's a song called Gloomy Sunday that has apparently driven people to suicide.
'Billy don't be a hero' made me shed a tear or two.... but I was only 12. It's naff now.
