guitar troubles

my guitar amp works and the cord connecting my guitar to my amp works. but when i hook my guitar up to my amp it doesnt project sound. i know its nothing to do with the amp volume. how can i fix this?

Have the pickups checked by a guitar shop. Sorry this is a stab in the dark as I am no expert!

You don't say what sort of guitar you have, or whether this is a new guitar, or one that has worked previously, but it is possible that the pick -up(s) are faulty(if new) or that the wiring from the pick-up(s) has come loose. Also there could be a problem with the pick up selector (if it has one) or the volume cotrol switch on the guitar ~ does it crackle? Do you get any sound at all? It could also be that the wiring to the socket for the guitar has a fault. if you are not a competent electrician, best thing to do is take it into your local music store and ask them to try it out for you.

check the Amp with something else, ie music centre. Can you connect the guitar to other speakers to check for sound.

When you thumb the end of the plug with the lead attached to the amp, does the amp buzz ? If so, something's probably come adrift inside the socket on your guitar.

could be as simple as the covers on the lead jacks being loose (odd i know, but it happens and it affects their ability to work!) - try tightening them

borrow another lead or try yours on somebody else guitar / amp. If the mic works and your lead is OK it only leaves the guitar.
