I saw a Meatloaf link in the Food section a few minutes ago, so I thought I'd come here and share a link with you. One of the BEST live acts I've EVER seen.

Saw him about 6 years ago and he was excellent. The guitarist was amazing and as a showman he's one of the best I've ever seen.
Crook?
Great voice, terrible music.

When Meat's singing (rarely) stuff NOT written by Jim Steinman, he's awesome.
lol, sorry, that was a bit random.

Was the guitarist Paul Crook?
I am a big meatloaf fan. I love the steinman songs too.
The name rings a bell Naz (can't remember if I'm honest).
I have to disagree with you, MR - the SteinmanLoaf combination is the greatest. I've seen Meatloaf live 6 times now (including the time at Wembley when he was taken ill on stage, and we got free replacement tickets the next time he came back) - fabulous light shows, wonderful lyrics. Steinman and the Loaf go really well together.
> wonderful lyrics

Others, including me, would say that Jim Steinman's lyrics are amongst the worst in the entire rock genre...
I think Steinman set out to write an overwrought histrionic Wagner-esque rock opera with 'Bat' and he succeeded totally.

He needed a few from (soon to be) Springsteen's E-Street Band, and a prodigy bass player to underpin the whole thing, Rungren's production and guitar, both peerless,m and then Meatloaf to bring the whole mix to vibrant OTT life.

i think it workd on every level - a near faultless realisation of a concept, and a fine album is the result.

A friend played it to me when it was just out a few days, saying that if i listened to both sides stright through twice (this was in the days of vinyl, we're talking the yellow Epic label here folks!)m I'd buy it, and play it for ever.

She was right, I did listen, I did buy, and have played freuently from then to now.
listening to meatleaf is the worst torture i can imagine. (shiver)
It's like Marmite, love it or leave it (I like Marmite too).
Loved Bat Out Of Hell and Bat Out Of Hell 2, but didn't really like Bat Out Of Hell 3

Oh well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad
I saw Mr Loaf do Bat out of Hell tour at Wembley , absolutely fantastic : )
