Can anyone tell me, was Vic Reeves the first person to put the <THUMP><THUMP><THUMP> OI!! into Daydream believer?

You know .. the bit "I thought love was only true in fairytales" ...<THUMP><THUMP><THUMP> OI!! Except I don't remember hearing anyone else do it before this. Can anyone prove or disprove this. Cheers.

He might have been. But I have heard that 'thump, thump, thump' type thing in the version on  Shrek.

That was what got me thinking about it actually. Was watching Shrek - they did that bit and it made me think that it wasn't in the original song and the first person I remember doing it was Vic Reeves. I've heard it in other cover versions though so I wondered if it was him that started the trend...

Anyone got any idea?

It's not in the original and Shrek was brought out after his version so he probably was the 1st!!
