Woe betide anyone who might criticise Mr John though, a bit like some users on here he can give it but can't take it (not a euphanism!)

Used to be friendly with George Michael until they fell out and John has slagged him off ever since
weecalf -

Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 25 March 1947) is an English singer-songwriter, composer and pianist. He has worked with his songwriting partner Bernie Taupin since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date.
Has he slagged GM off? I've never read it...
It's all a publicity game, slagging people off gets you both in the news, sitting quietly at home with a cup of herbal tea doesn't.

I wouldn't be surprised if half the celebrity spats we hear about are organised, I can imagine Elton and George chatting on the phone in the evenings and asking each other "so do you want to slate me in the papers tomorrow, or shall I slate you?"
Many of the songs Elton performed were a collaboration with Bernie Taupin.

Taupin wrote most of the lyrics. Elton wrote some great melodies.
I'm not an Elton John fan but he is undeniably talented and has a good ear for music. You don't have to write or produce hits to recognise rubbish when you are listening to it. Many modern hits are the result of the hard work and creative talent of the sound engineers who readjust the the tracks so that they don't offend the ear of anyone who can distinguish between 2 different notes. I don't think his life style has anything to do with his musical judgement.

ummmm

John probably wanted to be more than just friends with Michael, hell hath no fury etc
Lol....He criticized his album.
He might not have had a recent hit but you can't deny he is incredibly talented at what he does.

Something I doubt some of the one hit wonders about today will ever get a taste of. He also raises a significant amount of money for charity.

He is still actively touring as Chuck says, I went to see him a couple of years ago and he was absolutely fantastic and am going to see him again this summer.

The fact he can still put on sell out tour dates packed full of hit after hit says a lot.

I'm not doubting he's a talented artist but my point is shouldn't he let his music do the talking rather than slagging others off to get publicity?
I'm not a massive Elton fan, but lets face facts he is right! half the acts now cannot sing. There must be at least one elton john track that everyone likes, I'm sure. Maybe even you?
