Who are your favourite singer/songwriters. I'll go for John Lennon,Paul MCartney,Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder,Carole King, Elton John, Bob Dylan, George Michael, Paul Anka, Burt Bacharach.

I suppose Jeff Lynn's main strength as writer was the tunes he created (with inspiration from The Beatles) rather than his lyrics.

I agree, factor but his lyrics can be very strong too. 'Getting to the point' ( which we had as the first dance at our wedding ) is beautiful

But seriously- you have mentioned before how many classic songs he's written but although I've listened to loads of music over many years the only one I can remember that you listed was Tomorrow Never Comes, and maybe there was also a Bruce Springsteen track. I'm confident i've never bought any songs written by Garth
