do you have photos...movie clips etc on too?
I feel your pain - I can only fit around 20,000 on my 160GB Classic. Having said that, I do like a fair bit of Prog...
Are your individual music files large? What kbps have you imported at?
have you synced it to confirm its only full with music, do you have any other apps on there or higher quality music that will take up more room than average?
Mark....a bit obsessive..? ..what if you lose/damage it ?
8MB a track seems about right if they are 320Kbs

I have no photo`s, movies, only songs. I had a new motherboard fitted, i was wondering if this is got anything to do with it.
How many songs are you expecting to be able to get on it?

Read my and chuck's earlier replies... if your individual music files are large, 500 or so is about right for 4GBs.

You could reset/restore your iPod through iTunes and see if that frees up any 'hidden' space...
I thought a 4gb ipod could hold about a thousand??
Depends on the size of the individual music files doesn't it...
