Christian Lagarde, who is telling the Greeks to pay their taxes, pays no tax herself, despite earning more than the US President.

Must be nice to adopt a high moral standpoint when you've got a nice cushy number for yourself ...

I think that the op's point is that Lagarde's example is; 'if you can get out of paying any taxes do so'.

Well that is the attitude of many Greeks for years and she has criticised them for it.

Personally, i agree with Lagarde and the Greeks; give the government as little to waste as you can get away with.

Thanks, Baldric - in my righteous indignation, I didn't think the item had already been posted.

My point is that this lady should be willing to practice what she preaches.

Rather like the MPs' expenses saga, those who make their own rules shouldn't take advantage to feather their cushy nests...

i've had lunch today with a colleague whose sil works for the World Bank in the USA.

They don't pay any income tax either!
